Hormones, essential chemical messengers coursing through the bloodstream, profoundly influence bodily functions. A diverse array of hormones within the human body governs various health facets, managed by glands such as the thyroid, pancreas, ovaries, and adrenal glands. These encompass Triiodothyronine (T3), Thyroxine (T4), Insulin, Estrogen, Progesterone, Prolactin, Testosterone, Serotonin, Cortisol, Adrenaline, and Growth Hormone. Recognizing symptoms of hormonal imbalance, like weight changes, sweating, temperature sensitivity, bone health, fatigue, thirst, and skin issues, holds paramount importance.
Men and women undergo hormonal fluctuations owing to puberty, aging, pregnancy, PCOS, hormonal therapies, or medications. Men grapple with issues like reduced sex drive, erectile dysfunction, or breast tissue overgrowth, while women encounter irregular cycles, night sweats, or infertility.
Ayurveda, an ancient healing system, adopts a holistic approach to restore hormonal balance. Utilizing the 'Tri-Dosha' theory, it tailors care based on individual constitutions—considering the interplay of wind, space, fire, water, and earth. It reinstates profound cellular balance by emphasizing organic diets, lifestyle changes, meditation, and Ayurvedic therapies like Panchakarma and Shirodhara. Panchakarma involves gentle yet intensive cleansing, while Shirodhara targets CNS glands.

The challenge of hormonal imbalance, particularly conditions like Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), significantly impacts a woman's health and well-being. At Dyumna Women’s Clinic, we encountered a compelling case illustrating Ayurveda's potential in addressing hormonal imbalances, specifically PCOS.
The journey of a 28-year-old doctor grappling with PCOS and endometrial hyperplasia exemplifies the transformative impact of treatment at Dyumna Women’s Clinic. Upon her arrival in February 2023, she had a history of irregular menses persisting since menarche, with cycles spanning 35 to 40 days or intervals of 2-3 months, coupled with dysmenorrhoea and leucorrhoea post-bleeding. This individual had not previously undergone any hormonal therapies.
During her initial visit, we conducted baseline blood tests and abdominal/pelvic ultrasonography, revealing an endometrial thickness of 14mm. Our treatment regimen was swiftly initiated, kickstarting her cycle within two days. Post-menses, we recommended a follow-up ultrasound examination.
Subsequent ultrasonography unveiled polycystic ovaries and a small blood clot in the endometrial cavity. Following our protocol comprising internal medicines, varied treatment procedures, and lifestyle adjustments, her menstrual cycle was promptly regulated. Within a month, her menses became consistent, occurring every 30–32 days. A repeat ultrasound depicted normal ovaries, devoid of PCOS indicators, within 6 months, in between we gave her medicines along with necessary Panchakarma therapies.
Seeking guidance for conception, she underwent ovulation studies and necessary blood investigations. All conception-related parameters appeared normal. Based on her reports, we prescribed medicines for Supraja, recommended Uttarbasti (a gynecological panchakarma procedure), and advised adherence to specific ovulation study days. Remarkably, within the following month, she successfully conceived.
Currently, she is at her 12th week of gestational age, a testament to the efficacy of our comprehensive approach in addressing PCOS, endometrial hyperplasia, and facilitating successful conception at Dyumna Women’s Clinic.
